Using the FUE (follicular unit excision) method

Among minimally invasive procedures, beard restoration and the correction of beard loss are gaining increasing attention among men. Minor gaps can be filled by transplanting hair from one part of the beard to another, while for larger patches or even complete beard reconstruction, we use individual hair follicles.

Repairing minor defects and blemishes

The donor area is typically the area containing the beard hairs below the upper lip. The extraction process is the same as in hair transplants: after the area below the upper lip is anesthetized, follicular units (grafts) are extracted using the Trivellini Tech MAMBA device and its specially designed punch head. The grafts are typically implanted into pre-determined sites, thereby precisely controlling the direction, angle, and density of the hairs.

Larger gaps, building a full beard

Depending on the size of the area, we can use either beard hairs or follicular units containing scalp hair. In such cases, the donor area is the so-called “safe donor zone” of the scalp, just as in standard hair transplants. After the donor area is anesthetized, the grafts are harvested—also using the Trivellini Tech MAMBA device—and then implanted into the pre-determined sites using implanters.

BEARD TRANSPLANTATION Recovery time

Thanks to the selection of the correct surgical technique, the PRP treatment administered during surgery, and the face’s ability to heal quickly, redness in both the donor and recipient areas subsides after just 1–1.5 weeks. Natural healing processes are rapid, and beard hairs can grow at a faster rate than other body hairs.

Follow-up Care

Due to the face’s excellent regenerative capacity, aftercare is hardly an issue with beard transplants. The patient’s main task during the first week is to keep the transplanted area clean. Of course, just as we provide the necessary aftercare kit for hair transplants, patients also receive all the tools essential for maintaining cleanliness during beard transplants.

Recovery time

The results develop over a similar timeframe as with hair transplants; generally, we can speak of partial results after 6 months, and it takes approximately 1 to 1.5 years for the final results to become apparent.
