What it is
Your own plasma, concentrated
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small quantity of your blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, and the resulting plasma is injected into the scalp at the level of the follicles.
Platelets carry growth factors. The rationale of the treatment is to deliver a concentration of those factors directly to follicles that are still present but producing thinner, weaker hair.
Because the material comes from your own blood, there is no question of rejection or of an allergic reaction to a foreign substance. The whole appointment takes under an hour, and you can return to ordinary activity the same day.
What it can and cannot do
Being clear about the limits
PRP works on follicles that still exist. Where a follicle has been lost, no injection will bring it back — that is what a transplant is for. This is the single most important thing to understand before starting a course.
It is therefore best considered early, when hair is thinning rather than gone, and as a way of holding and strengthening what is there. It is also used alongside a transplant: one PRP treatment on the day of surgery is included in the transplant price.
Whether PRP is the right thing for you is a question the trichoscopic examination answers. If the finding suggests it will not help, we will say so.

How treatment is scheduled
The initial series
Treatments are usually given as a series rather than singly, spaced several weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the trichoscopic finding and on how the scalp responds.
Assessment between sessions
Trichoscopy is repeated so that density and hair thickness are compared against measurements rather than impressions. That is what tells us whether the course is working.
Maintenance
Where the response is good, treatments continue at longer intervals to hold the result. Androgenetic hair loss is a continuing process, and any retention treatment is a continuing answer to it.

Questions about PRP
Does it hurt?
The injections are felt, though the needles are fine and the scalp is treated quickly. Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. Tenderness for a day afterwards is usual.
How soon would I see anything?
Hair grows slowly, so changes are measured over months rather than weeks. Repeat trichoscopy gives an objective comparison of density and thickness; a visible difference typically takes several months.
Can I have PRP if I have already had a transplant?
Yes, and it is common. One PRP treatment on the day of surgery is included in the transplant price, and further treatments support the hair that was not transplanted.
What does it cost?
A PRP treatment is 98,000 Ft. The number of treatments in a course is decided from the trichoscopic finding, so the total is discussed at the consultation rather than quoted in advance.
