Trichoscopy
A magnified camera examination of the scalp. The finding is supported by software analysis that measures hair count, density and thickness per square centimetre.
Why it matters
Every plan begins here
Whether the concern is hair that has begun to thin suddenly or a receding pattern of long standing, the trichoscopic examination is the part of the consultation that cannot be skipped.
It shows more than the hairs. It shows the condition of the scalp itself, which is what a treatment plan has to be built on.
The clinic works with a digital trichoscope, so the examination is supported by software analysis. The software calculates in real time, and you and the physician both have the assessment of the scalp in hand by the time the examination ends.
Trichoscopy is part of the consultation — it is not requested separately and is not charged separately. The consultation is 39,000 Ft.
The analysis
Figures, not estimates
The analysis produces concrete numbers and calculations, which are what the treatment plan is based on.
The size of the area
The precise extent of the affected region, which is the basis for planning the number of grafts.
Hair count and quality
Density, thickness and the proportion of miniaturised hairs, per square centimetre.
Severity of androgenetic alopecia
An objective, calculated grading of the degree of hair loss, rather than a judgement by eye.
Suitability and graft numbers
The software assesses whether you are a candidate for a transplant, and how many grafts are available.

Questions about trichoscopy
Does the examination hurt?
No. A camera is held against the scalp; nothing is injected and nothing is removed. It takes a few minutes within the consultation.
Do I need to prepare?
Come with clean, dry hair and without styling product, which would otherwise obscure the scalp. If you have recent blood test results, bring them.
Can a transplant be planned from photographs instead?
No. A photograph does not show follicle density, hair thickness or the condition of the scalp, and it cannot establish the capacity of the donor area. Any graft number quoted without an examination is a guess.

Nothing meaningful can be said about treatment before an examination. At the consultation we assess the condition of the scalp, and recommend a treatment based on what we find — or recommend starting nothing for the time being.
